Gustav Klimt Inspired Collages
Students learned about Gustav Klimt and how his classical portrait training led him to a much more rebellious style for the time period. Students were to follow his style by picking a realistic focus piece from a magazine. They then chose blocks of color in complimentary, analogous, or combined color schemes to cut into shapes to fill their background. To finish everything up, the students embellished their collage with oil pastel to give it a more painterly look.
